When it comes to picking out the best policy you need to understand that you can get a printout of policies and compare them to each other.
Researching a policy is a very important thing to do because not every policy is the same and many companies will alter their policies in order to meet the budget of the customer. The one thing I recommend doing when you research the policy is to first highlight all the benefits and go from there.

The reason more and more people don't read the agreements is beyond me but too many people think that they already know what the agreement will say even when they don't. Think about it, if you never read the agreement then you really don't know what is covered and what isn't.

The one thing I learned the hard way is that don't every think the insurance companies are going to send you documents in the mail because most of them won't and if they do it won't be for a long time.
Research the company - Just like you would do when you research a policy you need to research the company you are looking to insure through. The couple things you need to look for when you are thinking about a certain company is how the company payouts have been over recent years because you don't want to be insured under a company that won't payout. Another thing you need to look for is how much debt the company has because a company with a lot of debt is more likely to not pay the claim.
